Climbing Proctor Hill

The DM&IR Railroad's 2-8-8-4 Yellowstone Locomotives were arguably one of the most powerful locomotives ever built. They had to be because they hauled long trains of iron ore hoppers principally from the mines in Northern Minnesota to the docks in Duluth for trans-loading to ships traversing the Great Lakes. This scene Depicts an empty ore train headed back to the yard at Proctor, MN as it Climbs the steep grade with Duluth Harbor in the distance.
