Butler Bound
Three Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad SD 38AC locomotives lead a long string of hopper cars across the B&LE's bridge over the Alleghany River in the late 1980's and northbound toward Butler, PA . Today the B&LE is now a part of the Canadian National System and the orange "pumpkin-colored" locomotives are all but a memory. In this scene the former Rock Island blue hopper cars can be seen in No. 869's consist and on the far side of the river a trio of Conrail GP 40's lead a westbound coal train.

Final Run
This scene depicts the final run of the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad's famous F-type locomotives on the former Western Allegheny Railroad in 1992. Within a few short years this branch line would be all but a memory, but in this scene the operation looks quite healthy as a loaded coal train traverses the 'S' curve at Liggett Siding on a beautiful fall day.
