"Sharks on BNW-3"- (Original - 12" x 18" image size) - 2010

It's the Fall of 1975 and the D&H sharks are on the point of BNW-3 westbound on the Lehigh Valley's Auburn Branch and about to duck under NY State Route 17 near Waverly, NY.  In a few short milesit will hand its cars off to the Lehigh at Sayre, PA.  BNW-3 (Boston to Norfolk & Western) handled New England traffic destined for Buffalo in direct competition with the Erie Lackawanna Railroad whose tracks can be seen on the embankment in the distance.  This route disappeared along with much of the Lehigh Valley itself with the formation of Conrail.  As a concession to Conrail the D&H received trackage rights on the Erie Lackawanna all the way to Buffalo and as such the Sayre turn was no longer needed.  But, on this day the sharks look splendid in their colorful "war bonnet" paint scheme.  Relive the glory days of the D&H with a print of this beautiful painting.

NOW AVAILABLE - a limited number of Giclée prints signed and numbered by the artist (limited to 500 copies).  The prints are reproduced on approximately 13"x 19", 51-lb. heavy weight, Epson premium paper and printed with archival inks.  Price........$42.00 plus $6.00 Shipping & Handling (US only contact us for S&H cost to locations outside of the United States)

"Ansonia Encounter"- (16" x 24" image size) - 2010

In the mid-1950s, the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in north central Pennsylvania was abandoned and sold to a scrap dealer with the intent of removing all track and structures and selling off the rolling stock.  Instead of scrapping the line, the new owner found that it could be operated as a profitable short line railroad.  Thus the Wellsville, Addison and Galeton Railroad was formed.  The new operator acquired six General Electric 126-ton locomotives formerly owned by the Ford Motor Company and painted them in a bright orange and cream color.  The WAG connected with two mainline railroads – the Erie Railroad at Wellsville, NY and the New York Central Railroad at Ansonia, PA.  In this 1957 scene WAG No. 1700 has just cut off from its caboose and is about to set off three box cars of freight at the NYC interchange track.  As No. 1700 approaches the interchange track, a northbound NYC coal train speeds by on the mainline track.

"Belden Hill Pushers"- (9" x 12" image size) - 2005

Delaware and Hudson Railroad's Baldwin shark-nosed diesels assist a train up Belden Hill northbound out of Binghamton, NY in the 1970's...gone but not forgotten.  It's the Summer of 1975 and sharks are pushing hard on the rear end of BM-1 as they assist in pushing 7,000 tons of freight toward the summit at Tunnel, NY on a hot, hazy day.  The scene is at Phelps Road in Port Dickinson, NY just above Binghamton as the engineer notches out the throttle and adds the thrust of 3000 horsepower to rear of one of the D&H's new wide-vision cabooses.  Come relive the experience through this original piece of art.  This print is being offered in the same size as the original (9" x 12") with a 1/2-inch border on all sides.

"LV 538 at Caywood, NY"- (18" x 12" image size) - 2007

Caywood, NY is located along the eastern shore of Seneca Lake, the largest of New York's Finger lakes.  The painting depicts a Lehigh Valley train rolling past one of the many vineyards scattered along the lake's gently sloping hillsides.  Alas, the Lehigh Valley is long gone.  It became a part of Conrail in 1976 and was deemed just another redundant route between New York and Buffalo, NY.  But, during its glory years it was a prime mover of anthracite coal and east-west bridge traffic.  LV 538 at Caywood brings back memories of the Lehigh that are now gone forever.  This print is being offered in the same size as the original (18"  x 12") with a 1/2-inch border on all sides.

"Lake Placid Turn"- (12" x 18" image size) - 2007

Lake Placid, NY is at the end of a very long New York Central branch line that extends for 142-miles from Utica, NY through the spectacular Adirondack Park.  RS-3 No. 8223 has been a mainstay of the Lake Placid branch for many years and to this day can be seen actively hauling tourist trains on the Adirondack RR.  No. 8223 is shown here working its way though the yard after dropping a combine at the station and headed off to work switching cars in the yard.  The scene depicts the later years when passenger service was handled by a single car attached to the end of a freight train.  This print is being offered in the same size as the original (18"  x 12") with a 1/2-inch border on all sides.

"Penn Division Special"- (11.5" x 18" image size) - 2007

In 1967, The Delaware and Hudson acquired four ALCO PA passenger locomotives from the Santa Fe Railway to replace the aging locomotives that powered its New York to Montreal passenger train, The Laurentian.  Because of their classic styling and streamlined look along with a completely refurbished set of passenger cars, The Laurentian became a very popular train.   In 1971, Amtrak took over control of the New York Montreal passenger service from the D&H and before long the last surviving PA locomotives would be surplus.  Rather than dispose of the four locomotives, D&H management decided to retain them for use on special trains and excursions.  This scene represents one of the many D&H special runs pulled by the PA locomotives.  This one is on the D&H Penn Division between Scranton, PA and Oneonta, NY.  The famous D&H ALCO PA Locomotives never regularly operated on the D&H's Penn Division, but in October of 1974 PA's 18 and 17 pulled a special train under the massive Starrucca viaduct at Lanesboro, PA just as the tail end of an Erie-Lackawanna train passes overhead.

"Old No. 8"- (10" x 12.5" image size) - 2003

Bridgton and Harrison No. 8 prepares for a mid-day run to Bridgton Junction, ME in the Fall of 1940.   By the early 1940's many of the Maine two-foot narrow gauge railroads had been abandoned.  One of the last holdouts was the Bridgton and Harrison surviving on tourist traffic and excursions until alas it finally succumbed to its financial burdens.  Old No. 8 survives to this day at the Maine Narrow Gauge Museum in Portland, ME after serving several decades hauling tourists at Edaville in South Carver, MA.  The image shown here was featured on the Cover of The Narrow Gauge and Short Line Gazette in 2004.  The image that appeared on the magazine cover was cropped and the true colors were distorted by the publisher.  The limited production prints now being offered are printed in true color that closely matches the original and un-cropped.

Rock Island GP-40 no. 344 and two road weary mates hold the mainline waiting to meet a westbound local at Gerald, MO in the Summer of 1976.  Though the first boxcar displays the Rock's new image, it would take more than paint and fancy graphics to revive this once grand prairie hauler.  Alas, the within four short the Rock will be all but a memory.

"Second NY-100"- (8" x 12" image size) - 2005

Erie Lackawanna Railroad's expedited freight train was given the train symbol NY-100 for it's eastbound trip from Chicago to New York.  The hottest traffic on the railroad was moved on this train.  On some occasions traffic was so heavy that it required the railroad to run a second section of NY-100 to accommodate the overflow. Symbolled as Second NY-100, the train is powered by two SDP-45's as it rolls east through Big Flats, NY in the pre-dawn hours of January 1968.
