"Butler Bound"- (11.5" x 15" image size) -2008

Three Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad SD 38AC locomotives lead a long string of hopper cars across the B&LE's famous bridge over the Alleghany River in the late 1980's and northbound toward Butler, PA .  Today the B&LE is now a part of the Canadian National System and the orange "pumpkin-colored" locomotives are almost a memory.  In this scene the former Rock Island blue hopper cars can be seen in No. 869's consist and on the far side of the river a trio of Conrail GP 40's lead a westbound coal train.

"Final Run" (15" x 13 image size") - 2005

This painting depicts final run of the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad's famous F-type locomotives on the former Western Alleghany Railroad in 1992.  Within a few short years this branch line would be all but a memory, but in this scene the operation looks quite healthy as a loaded coal train traverses the 'S' curve at Liggett Siding.

"Winter on the Western Allegheny"- (8" x 12" image size) -2008

Until 1992, this trio of first generation diesels hauled coal from the mines in western Pennsylvania to a connection with the Bessemer & Lake Erie mainline at Queen Junction, PA.  Seen here returning a train load of empties to the mine, B&LE F-7 No. 727 traverses an S-curve on a wintery day in the late 1980's.
